jala neti

Jala neti, or nasal cleansing, is the Ayurvedic tradition of passing water through the nasal passages to flush out pollutants, reduce allergy symptoms and cleanse the mind! I like to use a ceramic neti pot like the one you will find in my shop. Practice this as needed or as directed by your practitioner.

Fill the pot with clean*, warm water, tilt your head forward (over your sink) and to the left side when pouring in the right nostril and tilt to the right when pouring in the left nostril— your mouth is slightly open while pouring so you can breathe. Before you begin you can add a 1/4 tsp of himalayan salt to the water for its anti-inflammatory properties.

Once you finish both sides dab a little olive oil in your nostrils so they don’t dry out or use an Ayurvedic nasya oil, like the one you will find in my shop, for additional health benefits.

*if using tap water to clean your eyes or nose please boil it first and wait for it to come down to a warm temperature before using
