chakshu dhauti

Chakshu dhauti, or eye cleansing, is the Ayurvedic tradition of washing the eyes. This practice removes waste secretions that build up in the eye and is also believed to help sustain one’s vision just as brushing teeth sustains dental health. I recommend using a glass eye cup for washing like the one you will find in my shop. Practice this as needed and/or as directed by your practitioner.

Fill your cup halfway with high quality distilled rosewater and the other half with clean*, warm water. Bend forward and place the cup over your eye nice and tight, then tilt your head back and blink your eye 4-5x, bend forward to release the cup and repeat on the other side with the same fluid.

*if using tap water to clean your eyes or nose please boil it first and wait for it to come down to a warm temperature before using
